A few whisk(e)y enthusiasts and myself have been discussing recently how the city has been seriously lacking a whisky club, so after a bit of back and forth, I would like to introduce you to the city’s first dedicated whisky club, the very obviously named ‘Liverpool Whisky Club’. Now, the word Liverpool isn’t exclusionary, so if you’re from over the water, St. Helens, Manchester, etc, you’re more than welcome to join. Here’s a few bits about the club and what we want to achieve…
What will it cost? £30 per member per year
How many membership spots are there? 200
What will I get for my £30? The main benefit that we can offer initially will be 10% off all whisky (including tastings) at HopScotch Liverpool, not bad considering the membership is only costing you about £2.50 per month, eh? Secondly, you will receive a cool looking brushed stainless steel membership card with your membership number engraved into it. Finally, one of the initial ideas that was thought up by one of our regulars that we also thought was a great idea, is a monthly bottle share night at the bar, where members turn up on a night when the bar is usually closed, pay a £12 corkage fee (cover the cost of staffing the bar), and members can share their bottles with each other.
What do we hope for the future? In addition to what you will get from day 1, the more momentum we gain, the more we can do in the future, such as more dedicated tastings, club bottlings, etc. We’re hoping we can build a community of whisky enthusiasts, as there currently isn’t one in Liverpool; we can meet up, share some good drams together, have a laugh and a bit of a chat, and hopefully make some new friends.
