Peated spirit from the Ardmore distillery, distilled back in 1985 and fully matured in an ex-Bourbon hogshead for 41 years before being bottled in 2026 at 41.7%ABV. Some of my tasting notes below:
Nose: passionfruit, barbecued grapefruit, tinned mandarins, wet wooly jumper that’s been by a campfire, hessian, newspaper, extreme apple Chewits, and a touch of tiger balm.
Palate: soft and waxy mouthfeel, burning herbs (lavender), jasmine tea, and wildflower honey.
Finish: medium length, but this is where the peat really presents itself becoming more sooty, we also get some salinity, and torched lemon peel.
